MOVES is bringing mobile veterinary internal medicine to Louisville with the addition of Mariola Rak, DVM, DACVIM (SAIM). A board-certified small animal internal medicine specialist, Dr. Rak brings advanced diagnostics and case management directly to general practice and emergency hospitals throughout the Louisville-Lexington area.

Dr. Rak earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Elmhurst University and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine.

Following graduation, she completed a one-year small animal rotating internship at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center, then a three-year small animal internal medicine residency at the University of Tennessee Veterinary Medical Center. She achieved board certification through the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2023.

Since residency, Dr. Rak has provided both inpatient and outpatient care at an emergency and specialty referral center, giving her a working familiarity with the pace and complexity of referral medicine.

Her clinical interests include gastroenterology, nephro-urology, and fungal disease. Her published residency research investigated the gastrointestinal effects of prednisone as determined by endoscopic changes and bloodwork abnormalities, and she has co-authored publications in cardiology, endocrinology, and pharmacology. She is also trained in animal disaster response and certified in animal ice rescue operations.

A native of Poland and a fluent Polish speaker, Dr. Rak grew up in New York City and Chicago before her professional training took her across the eastern half of the United States.

Dr. Rak joined MOVES in 2026 and is focused on building strong, collaborative relationships within her partner network. Her goal is to make advanced internal medicine more accessible and better connected for clinics across the Louisville-Lexington region and their clients.
